Marketing standards for non-EU countries
Fruit and vegetable products sold within the European Union must conform to specific EU marketing standards.
For products originating inside the EU, conformity checks are carried out by inspection bodies, under the supervision of national authorities.
In the case of products originating outside the EU, non-EU countries may carry out their own conformity checks under the conditions set out in Article 15 of Commission implementing regulation (EU) No 543/2011. These conditions are designed to ensure that checks align with EU or equivalent standards.
As part of the regulations governing marketing standards, the Commission publishes details of the official authorities and inspection bodies responsible for carrying out conformity checks in the respective non-EU countries, as well as the conformity certificates issued by each country.
