European Youth Week 2024

The European Commission organises the European Youth Week event every second year to celebrate and promote youth engagement, participation and active citizenship all over Europe and beyond.

As part of the European Youth week 2024 event organised by the European Commission from 12-19 April 2024, young people in the EU are invited to take part in activities from all over Europe and beyond. This year’s focus is on democracy and the European elections, encouraging young people to voice their vision for the EU.

The main objectives of the 2024 edition are:

  • Empower young people to become active and engaged citizens and encourage them to vote.
  • Highlight achievements in the field of youth.
  • Promote opportunities offered to young people from public policies and initiatives at EU, national, regional, and local levels such as Erasmus+ or the European Solidarity Corps programme.
  • Draw attention to priority issues of relevance to young people including the priorities of the European Commission.

During this event, young people will have the opportunity to:

  • raise their opinions about processes that matter to them,
  • take part in various activities and discussions and
  • voice their own visions.

Workshop: Rural is also IN! Young people and agriculture

Rural young people will join the representatives of the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development for a workshop around young people in rural areas and agriculture to:

  • Find out what the common agricultural policy (CAP) does for young people living in rural areas in the EU, and how the EU is stepping up its efforts to encourage young people into farming.
  • Discuss the opportunities and challenges that come with living in rural areas.

Follow the discussions on social networks with #EUYouthWeek.
