Regulation (EU) 2018/848 requires that authorisation of products and substances used in organic production may only be authorised if they comply with the principles, criteria and objectives set in that Regulation. The Commission has decided that when taking decisions on these authorisations it will take account of scientific advice by a group of independent experts. For that purpose, the Commission has set up the Expert Group for Technical Advice on Organic Production (EGTOP) by Commission Decision 2021/C343/03 of 4 August 2021.
