Farmland represents nearly 45% of the total land area of Czechia, accounting for 3.5 million hectares.

Forests represent approximately 33% of the total land area, the majority of them being coniferous forests.

There are around 26 530 agricultural holdings in the country, with around 75% of farmland cultivated by large farms.

Goal and strategy

The Czech Plan aims at ensuring the sustainable competitiveness and resilience of farms while at the same time improving the protection of natural resources and the climate. It substantially contributes to improving the redistribution of financial support to small- and medium-sized farms, strengthening the position of organic farming, and improving the vitality and quality of life in rural areas through investments.

Czechia’s 2023 annual performance report on the national website 

The annual performance report (APR) presents: spending, outputs, and results achieved through the CAP Strategic Plan (CSP). 

The APRs cover a qualitative and a quantitative overview of the CSPs’ implementation, providing an outline of the expenditures and performance achieved.

    The Commission approved Czechia’s CAP Strategic Plan.

  3. 3 November 2022

    Czechia submitted a revised proposal, addressing the Commission’s observations on the first draft.

  4. 23 May 2022

    Czechia’s comments on Commission observation letter.

  5. 25 April 2022

    Commission sent an observation letter on Czechia’s CAP Strategic Plan.

  6. 28 January 2022

    Czechia submitted its first proposal for a CAP Strategic Plan.

  7. 18 December 2020

    Commission issued a Staff Working Document containing recommendations for Czechia’s CAP Strategic Plan.

Legal basis

Regulation (EU) 2021/2115 establishing rules on support for strategic plans to be drawn up by EU countries under the common agricultural policy (CAP Strategic Plans).
