EU and Mexico upgrade agreement on spirit drinks geographical indications

Due to increased import duties on EU wines, the Commission put forward measures to increase flexibility for the promotion of wine outside the EU.

The calls for proposals for promotion of agri-food products was launched today.

All geographical indications registered and protected in the EU are now available on the new public database eAmbrosia.

October 2019 saw a growth in the values of both agri-food imports and exports, as the EU recorded another strong trade surplus.

The EU records its largest ever monthly agri-food trade surplus in September 2019, as both imports and exports of agricultural products grow.

The joint loan package, launched by the EIB and the Commission, has specific targets to support younger farmers.

EU demand for cereals and oilseeds remains driven mainly by feed use, although industrial uses will grow more rapidly.

Olive oil production is expected to increase while wine consumption is projected to decline over the outlook period.
