Report
During the workshop, participants explored two key themes: the impact of climate change on agriculture in enlargement countries and the transition to sustainable practices in the Western Balkans, Moldova, and Ukraine.
The discussions highlighted Europe as the fastest-warming continent, with rising threats to ecosystems, food security, and infrastructure. Climate change is driving water scarcity, extreme weather events, and biodiversity loss, which are already impacting crop yields and livestock. While adaptation is possible, it will require significant transformation across supply chains and enhanced regional cooperation.
Participants identified key challenges in enlargement countries, including limited data availability, degraded land, and water scarcity. The workshop underscored the need for tailored strategies, reforestation efforts, and the adoption of climate-smart agriculture and advanced technologies.
