Organic farming information system
The organic farming information system (OFIS) is the centralised database containing information on:
- ingredient authorisations;
- control authorities and control bodies in the EU, European Economic Area and Switzerland;
- control bodies and authorities for equivalence.
EU countries enter information according to the current legislation on organic farming.
The OFIS database enables EU countries and the European Commission to exchange agricultural data on organic products, and provides up-to-date information to the public.
Organic seed databases
All organic plants and plants products need to be grown from plant reproductive materials (seeds, cuttings, rhizomes etc.) which conform to organic standards.
Each EU country is required to maintain a national organic seed database for farmers to easily identify suppliers of organic seeds in their countries. EU countries communicate their designated organisation responsible for updating the listing of seeds produced organically and their suppliers. Since 1 January 2022, national organic seed databases are required to include the availability of organic and in-conversion plant reproductive material, as per Regulation (EU) 2018/848.
The links to the national organic seed databases for Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom are featured on this page for technical reference.
