Report
The second EU Organic Awards ceremony was conducted to honor the people, organisations, and enterprises who have created creative, innovative, long-lasting projects centred on organic farming and food.
As part of the EU Organic Day, eight awards were handed to different EU actors, including farmers, retailers, and food processors, who exemplified excellence along the organic value chain.
Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski gave a keynote speech, where he underlined the significance and importance of the organic sector in EU agriculture, as well as how the CAP 2023-27 is supporting organic farmers.
After the Awards presentation, moderated roundtable talks were held. These dealt with current themes like what it means to be an organic farmer today and, in the future, or how local and regional authorities should encourage the production and consumption of organic foods.
Participants also had the chance to talk about the sector's future development and the successes of the EU Action Plan for the Development of Organic Production.
The event concluded with a lunch hosted by Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski for the award winners and invited guests.
